OEM SENSORS

Durham Instruments is proud to be the exclusive Canadian Distributor
for Schaevitz Sensors. Schaevitz Sensors designs, manufactures, and
markets low to medium volume, rugged industrial OEM sensors, with a
wide choice of proven sensors for linear and rotary position, pressure,
slope/tilt, dimensional gaging, associated instrumentation and
customized systems.

Biaxial inclination OEM sensors use 2 pieces of basic cells. The sensor
works in the way that an electrolytical fluid is formed out by applying
an AC-voltage on the planar electrode structures. By tilting the
sensor, the fluid level over the different electrodes and in
consequence the conductance of the stray field changes. Using a
difference measurement principle, the tilt angle and the tilt direction
can be measured. With a special electrode and circuit design the
temperature coefficient is almost completely compensated.

The single axis Inclination OEM sensors NS-5/E and NS-15/E are newly
developed sensors manufactured in micro system technology including
modern technologies. Basically, it consists of measuring cell,
manufactured in modern thin film technology, and integrated signal
pre-processing, which has been realised in thick film technology, many
connecting leads having been led out of the sensor in order to support
the different applications. Thus for example precision can be increased
as well as sensitivity and zero can be varied by using simple passive
components. The sensor element itself and the hybrid electronics are
located in a sealed-in ceramic package, the bearing surface of which
has been ground precisely even. Consequently, due to the very low
linear expansion coefficient of the ceramic parts of the sensor, a very
precise and temperature-independent transfer of the measuring set onto
the surface to be measured is possible.

The dual axis Inclination OEM sensors NS-10/E2 and NS-25/E2 are low-cost
sensors especially designed for OEM sensor applications and are manufactured
in micro systems engineering including modern technologies. Basically,
it consists in the measuring cell, manufactured in thin-film technique,
and is put on an SMD circuit board containing the accompanying
electronic system. In the design of the circuit care has been taken
that the sensors are of high flexibility with regard to the systems to
be adapted.

The Massa Ultrasonic Ranging Module is a precision electronic
measurement device which includes an interface electronics module and
one or two ultrasonic transducers, depending on the model selected. The
Ultrasonic Ranging Module provides the OEM sensors market with a PWMLATCH output
pulse, whose duration is proportional to the time required for the
sound to travel between the transmit and receive transducers. The LATCH
pulse width may be processed through additional circuitry for
applications requiring position, level, profile, or thickness
measurements.
